Miami, May 27, 2008 –Key Transportation has made the decision to “go green” by introducing the new Yukon Hybrid to their extensive fleet.  Hybrid vehicles combine the benefits of gasoline engines and electric motors to improve fuel economy. The two-mode Yukon Hybrid provides 50 percent greater city fuel economy compared to the conventional engine -- comparable to the city fuel economy of the much-smaller 2008 2.4L-equipped Toyota Camry sedan. According to hybridcars.com, the two-wheel drive Yukon hybrid rates at 21 mpg in the city, and 22 mpg on the highway. That gives the gas/electric Yukon top ranking for fuel efficiency in the full-size SUV category.

“I appreciate Key Transportation’s decision to utilize the new GMC Yukon Hybrid in their fleet,” said Connie Rae Montoya of GM Fleet and Commercial Operations. “They’re showing their commitment to the environment by reducing their carbon footprint while still offering their customers a full size SUV with substantially increased fuel economy.

“This is another way for our company to reduce our carbon footprint. I anticipate a drop in gas consumption and emissions along with better overall performance of our fleet. Since its inception, Key Transportation has been committed to its recycling efforts. Vehicles that have reached the end of their life cycle are dismantled.  Their constituent parts are then separated into groups such as steel and aluminum which are then recycled. Engine oil and tires are also recycled. Beyond recycling they are also exploring ways to convert our fleet of sedans, vans and busses to LP (liquid propane), a cleaner fuel that’s also more economical.  According to the EPA, propane vehicles produce substantially less carbon monoxide than gas engines and about 50 percent fewer toxins and other harmful emissions. Key’s greening strategy continues to be cutting edge.
